MINSK, 20 December (BelTA) - The documentary series Time Chose Us on the Belarus 1 TV channel remembered the famous signer Vladimir Mulyavin and his band Pesnyary, BelTA learned.
Vladimir Mulyavin, the leader of the famous Pesnyary band, passed away o26 January 2003. His death shocked absolutely everyone. He was truly a people's artist whose life was cut short too soon.
Vladimir Mulyavin was born in Sverdlovsk (now Yekaterinburg) on 12 January 1941. He ended up in Minsk thanks to his wife: she was offered a place in the philharmonic society. It was there that the idea about Pesnyary came to life. The band used to tour countryside giving concerts in community centers and finally arrived at the victory at the 4th Soviet Union Contest of Popular Music Artists.

Pesnyary and Vladimir Mulyavin were among the biggest stars of the Soviet Union. Vladimir Mulyavin received Francysk Skaryna Order, one of the highest awards of Belarus, from the hands of the president.

The musician had big creative plans, but one of his trips became fatal. On 14 May 2002, his car drove off the road and crashed into trees.
For eight months doctors fought for the musician's life. But on 26 January 2003 his heart stopped beating.
The farewell ceremony for Vladimir Mulyavin gathered thousands of people. They came from Russia and other countries. “They say Mulyavin is dead. It is not true. People of his kind don’t die. Unfortunately, people like him leave us. But considering everything they have accomplished over the course of their lives, they stay with us for centuries,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
