MINSK, 29 August (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko was informed about the first step towards the creation of Belarusian YouTube, Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration Vladimir Pertsov told the media, BelTA has learned.
“Video hosting videobel.by is our first OTT platform, which will host various programs and even off-air content of video creators.
It is not a full analog, but rather the first step towards the creation of Belarusian YouTube,” Vladimir Pertsov said.
"You can see what is happening with YouTube and other OTT video-on-demand services. We cannot predict how this situation will develop further. But we do know that the Belarusian viewer (and not only) wants to watch videos on demand via a personal computer or a mobile phone where and when it is convenient for them. This project will be launched on 12 September," Vladimir Pertsov added.
According to him, apart from user videos, the video hosting will provide an opportunity to watch the major Belarusian TV channels in real time. The main loading page will feature a top news feed of the BelTA news agency.
