LTE rollout successful in Belarus

MINSK, 7 May (BelTA) – The number of LTE-enabled cell stations has reached 1,000 in Belarus, BelTA learned from representatives of the Belarusian telecommunications infrastructure operator beCloud.

The 1,000th base station is located near the populated locality of Bykachino in the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone.

In January-May 2018 Belarusian mobile broadband users generated 33,000TB of traffic. They generated 270TB of data per day for a total of 70,000TB.

BeCloud Director General Oleg Sedelnik noted: “Developing LTE as the fourth-generation mobile communication technology is a high priority for beCloud Company in Belarus. The fourth-generation technology has improved living standards for individuals and conditions for doing business for our strategic partners. For the first time in our country LTE Advanced was launched in December 2015 together with Belarus' largest mobile carrier — MTS.”

One year later the LTE network was available in all the oblast capitals. Subscribers of the mobile carrier life:) received access to 4G. Mobile carriers reported that the number of subscribers, who had connected to the network, exceeded 2 million.

By the end of 2017 beCloud made the high-speed broadband technology available in over 100 population centers across the country. 4G subscribers had increased their LTE data consumption tenfold by then.

The Belarusian telecommunications infrastructure operator beCloud intends to continue developing the technology in Belarus. In the near future the company intends to offer the LTE technology in all the cities where population has reached 50,000 people.
