KOROLYOV, 25 March (BelTA) – Anastasia Lenkova, the
backup of Belarus’ first spacefarer Marina Vasilevskaya, told BelTA
that she hopes to fly into space one day.
Anastasia Lenkova
arrived at the Roscosmos Mission Control Center in Korolyov, Moscow
Oblast, to support the crew of Souyz MS-25 that is set to dock the
International Space Station on 25 March. The crew includes spacecraft
commander, Belarusian national Oleg Novitsky, spaceflight participant
from Belarus Marina Vasilevskaya and NASA astronaut Tracy Dyson.
Belarus’ Anastasia Lenkova, Roscosmos cosmonaut Ivan Vagner and NASA astronaut Donald R. Pettit were Souyz MS-25 backup crew members.
“I hope to be able to make use of the experience accumulated during my training as a backup crew member some time in the future. I am confident that the manned flight program will be continued in Belarus,” said Anastasia Lenkova.
“I’m ready. I would like to complete this journey and experience everything to the end. I have already got the feel of it, it is like the door has opened slightly. And now I want this door wide open,” added Anastasia Lenkova. Soyuz MS-25 is to dock with the ISS at 18:10 Minsk time.
