Lebedev: CIS countries will coordinate cooperation in security

MINSK, 27 February (BelTA) - The CIS countries will coordinate cooperation in the field of security, CIS Secretary General Sergei Lebedev told reporters, BelTA has learned. 

Minsk is hosting another meeting of the CIS Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives.

The CIS permanent representatives are set to review the progress in the roadmap to the initiatives voiced by the heads of delegations during the meetings of the CIS Heads of State Council, the CIS Heads of Government Council, the CIS Ministerial Council and the CIS Economic Council, in terms of cooperation in security.

"You see the situation around the Russian Federation, the continuous threats emanating from abroad against the Republic of Belarus. Given all this, it is very important to coordinate our activities in the CIS in order to ensure our security. Today we are going to discuss this," Sergei Lebedev said. 

"We are going to look into the activities of the CIS Anti-Terrorist Center, the bureau for the coordination of the fight against organized crime. We will examine the interaction of the law enforcement agencies of the CIS countries. It has intensified significantly in recent months. Today we are going to have such a business-like, specific conversation on this topic," he stressed.
