MINSK, 23 May (BelTA) – Commander of Latvia's Air Force Colonel Armands Saltups is on a visit to Belarus, BelTA learnt from the Ministry of Defense.
The Latvian Air Force Commander will stay in Belarus on 23-24 May. He will take part in a discussion to evaluate the implementation of the agreement on information exchange about air traffic signed by the Ministry of Defense of Belarus and the Ministry of Defense of Latvia on 8 June 2017. The participants of the meeting will also discuss cooperation in search and rescue operations, the use of the Air Force and Air Defense in air policing during mass events, further development of cooperation related to the Air Force and Air Defense,” the Ministry of Defense informed.
Due to the agreements reached during the visit, Belarus and Latvia will be better positioned to respond to border security threats in the air and to improve air management during near-border flights. The agreements are also expected to boost mutual trust between the states and regional security.
