Lagardere Travel Retail Poland seeks cooperation with Belarusian publishers

MINSK, 24 May (BelTA) – The Lagardere Travel Retail division in Poland is showing interest in developing cooperation with Belarusian publishers, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Information Ministry.

The WBF Warsaw Book Fair which is underway in Warsaw on 23-26 May is widely used to further develop contacts established at the Beijing Book Fair in 2018 between the Belarusian Information Ministry, OAO Belkniga and Lagardere Travel Retail. Head of the Lagardere Travel Retail division in Poland Andrzej Kacperski presented information on the activity and opportunities of the company to develop cooperation with the Information Ministry, the Belarusian publishing houses, the Soyuzpechat and Belkniga networks.

“The presentation covered trading facilities, working principles and the assortment,” the ministry said. There is also an interest to take part in the celebrations of Belarusian Written Language Day in Slonim to discuss cooperation with publishers and other stakeholders.

The Belarusian delegation met with representatives of the Polish Book Institute at the Warsaw Book Fair. Director of the Book Institute Dariusz Jaworski informed the Belarusian colleagues about the opportunities to participate in Polish programs. He noted that the first result of the agreements reached with Belarus Information Minister Aleksandr Karlyukevich will be visible in the near future. The Mastatskaya Literatura publishing house will issue the novel “Madame” by Polish author Antoni Libera under the program of the Book Institute.

The Belarusian stand at the Warsaw Book Fair highlights the books dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Belarus' liberation from the Nazi occupation, printing materials about the forthcoming European Games in Minsk. Deputy Information Minister Igor Buzovsky handed Ambassador of Belarus to Poland Vladimir Chushev the certificate for books by Belarusian authors, the books about the country's tourism industry and children's books.
