MINSK, 29 March (BelTA) - There is no fake democracy in Belarus, Serbian filmmaker Emir Kusturica said in an interview with Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA has learned.
Emir Kusturica has visited Belarus many times. “I liked it very much there. Safety and order, good people, good food,” he said. “This is the original Slavic land. There is no fake democracy there. The rest of the Slavic Catholic lands have such democracy now. The democracy that the market system has produced.”
In his words, the more the market becomes important, the less democracy there is in the world. “I believe there is very little democracy in the world today,” the film director added.
