BELYNICHI, 24 December (BelTA) – The charity campaign Our Children teaches us to be kind and caring, Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration Andrei Kuntsevich told BelTA as he took part in the event of the Our Children campaign in the Belynichi special needs residential school.
“Adults who participated in this campaign at least once will never be indifferent to children's sincere emotions,” Andrei Kuntsevich said. “I believe that the period in the run-up to New Year is the best time to help those who need it the most. Our nationwide campaign is a perfect way for everyone to pitch in. Holidays cannot do without presents, so today I have given the school the latest books from Belarusian publishers that will be added to the collection of the school library,” he added.
Andrei Kuntsevich thanked the staff and teachers of the Belynichi special needs residential school. “Only people with kindest hearts can work with children with special needs. It is a difficult and responsible job. Thank you for your work,” he stressed.
No child should be left without presents and attention during winter holidays, Chairman of the Belynichi District Executive Committee Vasily Zakharenko said. “It has already become a tradition for the deputy head of the Belarus President Administration to wish our residential school happy holidays. Local organizations and enterprises have also joined the campaign. We try to supply the school with everything necessary,” he noted.
Headmaster of the Belynichi special needs residential school Aleksandr Mamchenko pointed out that the school has created all conditions for children's development and socialization. “Although our school teaches children with special needs, we also help them pursue their interests: some kids like to weave, others are into singing. Some children take care of houseplants, others are keen to try their hand at interior design. This year, we have opened the patriotic club ‘My native land'. Children should know history and love their native land. By the way, our pupils are very sincere, open, and curious. After graduating from our school, they adapt to life in the society and master various professions,” the director said.
The New Year event brought together about 60 students of the residential school. Attending the event were also representatives of the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee, the Belynichi District Executive Committee, regional and district trade union organizations, the Belvtorchermet and Mogilevvtorchermet companies. The residential school was gifted money certificates, household appliances, cooking utensils, and children received sweets.
The residential school is home to 85 children with special needs, including 56 orphans.
