BOBRUISK, 17 November (BelTA) - One of the goals of the Marathon of Unity campaign is to show Belarusian cities and regions, Head of the Belarus President Administration Dmitry Krutoi said at the Time has Chosen us concert held as part of the Marathon of Unity in Bobruisk on 16 November, BelTA has learned.
“Finally our Marathon of Unity has arrived in Bobruisk, to one of the largest ice arenas of our country. In my opinion, it is the city whose fame has long gone beyond the borders of our Belarus. There are more than 600 years of heroic history of Bobruisk. It is even hard to count how many times it was destroyed and rebuilt again,” Dmitry Krutoi said.
Dmitry Krutoi recalled that the Great Patriotic War left particularly deep scars on the heart of the city. “Hundreds of buildings were destroyed. The infamous Bobruisk ghetto, where more than 100,000 people died. But the Germans also suffered big losses here, too,” he added.
The head of the Belarus President Administration stated that after the Great Patriotic War Bobruisk recovered very quickly and was even a regional center for 10 years. Dozens of new enterprises were built, which today form the basis of the city's economy.
“Bobruisk boasts a big number of architectural and historical monuments, a great variety of interesting places. One of the goals of the Marathon of Unity is to show our cities (both large and medium-sized) and our regions. The president is right to say that we should not limit ourselves to the final concert. We need to organize more accompanying events: quests, contests, Non-Boring Non-Lecture events,” Dmitry Krutoi said.
