VILEIKA, 20 January (BelTA) - The cheese, the production of which has been launched at Minsk Dairy Plant No. 1 in Vileika, compares in quality with its Russian or French analogs, Head of the Belarus President Administration Dmitry Krutoi said at the opening of the white mold production workshop on 20 January, BelTA has learned.
Speaking about the implementation of the large-scale investment program One District-One Project, Dmitry Krutoi noted that the opening of a new production facility in Vileika is a worthy example. “If we talk about cheese, the cooks who have already started working with it say that it is equal to both Russian and French analogs. This is advanced equipment, the best technologies, which took many months to perfect. The final product lets us say that the efforts of specialists have paid off and the country has new competencies now,” he said.
According to the head of the Belarus President Administration, the production is unique and Belarusian producers are beginning to develop a new cheese making tradition. “In a few days, Minsk Dairy Plant No. 1 – the country’s largest holding company - will launch the production of blue cheese,” he said, expressing hope that Belarusians would like the product.
“It is important to hit the price segment. Classic white mold cheese costs 2 euros on average worldwide. The package of 200-250g on our shelves costs almost twice as much, but the company promises that the price will be even cheaper than those products, which are currently imported,” Dmitry Krutoi added.
Such projects are also important for small towns. “The issue of new jobs is pressing for small communities. When the president was attending the Dazhynki harvest festival in Volozhin he got acquainted with the performance of such district centers and urged to step up the program [One District, One Project]. The program came into being thanks to him. The emphasis on the program will be increased this year, because strong regions mean a strong country. It has become one of the key points of our leader's election platform. The president has instructed to schedule the work in such a way this year as to see the progress in the projects, of which there are about 200,” Dmitry Krutoi explained.
According to him, the list of projects is constantly changing, incorporating more and more new initiatives. “It is great that there is even a certain competition,” he emphasized.
According to Dmitry Krutoi, almost 50 new jobs have been created at the new production facility. “The salaries will be good: Br2,500-3,000. This is not bad for the capital and our regional centers. Housing issues will be also addressed with the help of our holding company: it will restore the dormitory, which will ensure the employee retention,” he stressed.
