VITEBSK, 15 January (BelTA) - Head of the Belarus President Administration Dmitry Krutoi presented gift boxes from the Belarusian leader to students of Vitebsk specialized Olympic reserve school for children and young people No.1. The school trains budding and already accomplished trampoline gymnasts from across the country, BelTA has learned.
The distinguished guest came to visit the children with an important mission: to deliver candies, a themed cake and gratitude from the head of state for their successes in competitions at various levels. The children wholeheartedly thanked Dmitry Krutoi and promised to continue conquering the sporting Olympus, bringing home only gold medals and bringing glory to their native Belarus.
The head of the President Administration noted that during a recent meeting in Minsk celebrating the Old New Year, the head coach of the national trampoline team Olga Vlasova mentioned it would be wonderful if her athletes also received gifts from Aleksandr Lukashenko. “Our leader heard this, and made a quick decision. He said we have few national teams across various sports that compete not by numbers but by skill, and our trampolinists have already won many medals from many Olympic Games bringing glory to Belarus,” Dmitry Krutoi noted.
He mentioned that he understands how challenging the construction of such a trampoline center was, and he wanted to see the sports facility and assess the training conditions. “Here, there is already a truly full-fledged new generation and excellent talent selection. Considering the president's attitude towards sports and the attention currently given to trampoline, we want you to continue bringing back gold medals from Olympic Games. The number of medal sets in this sport isn't very large, so the level of competition is, of course, intense. Supporting these athletes is very important," the head of the Presidential Administration noted.
Not long ago, medical rehabilitation equipment was acquired for the center. This equipment is essential for trampolinists, as the sport carries a high risk of injury, and athletes undergo tremendous physical strain, making proper recovery crucial for them.
“Parents and coaches of our national team raised the issue of balancing these intensive training sessions with academic studies and requested a return to the Soviet-era model, to avoid losing skills that are very fine, essentially at their fingertips, and are acquired through a very demanding training process. It is important to find a reasonable balance with academic studies. After all, the corresponding methodologies in the Soviet Union were quite successful, so we are taking up this matter with our Education Ministry,” Dmitry Krutoi said.
He admitted that the meeting with the young athletes was a true breath of fresh air for him. The boys and girls shared that they dream of winning only champion titles proving that the Vitebsk trampoline school is the strongest in the world.
