Krutoi: Attempts to rewrite Belarus’ history have become more aggressive

MINSK, 15 October (BelTA) – Attempts to rewrite our history have become even more aggressive, Head of the Belarus President Administration Dmitry Krutoi told reporters at a meeting of the National Council on Historical Policy, BelTA has learned.

“After 2020, attempts by our self-exiled opposition and Western politicians to rewrite history have become even more aggressive. The struggle to preserve our history is just as consequential and fierce as the economic confrontation, the information warfare, or even a military confrontation. There is a struggle for minds. Therefore, the task of our council, which includes leading historians, public figures engaged in historical research, is to promptly respond to all sorts of provocations, a daily outpouring of fake news about our country. And our main task is to stand firm and hold our ground,” Dmitry Krutoi emphasized.

Work is currently underway to draw a plan of events to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. The plan will take into consideration the experience of marking the 80th anniversary of Belarus’ liberation from the Nazi invaders. There are plans to hold major events in each region, not only in Minsk. “Of course, we will invite our international partners. The Union State Supreme State Council meeting will be held soon. It will discuss the organization and financing of events that will be arranged jointly with the Russian Federation within the framework of the Union State Standing Committee next year. A number of applications have already been received. They need to be carefully studied and analyzed.”
