Kochanova reflects on composition of new government

MINSK, 25 February (BelTA) – Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova answered how much the composition of the government may change and who may be reshuffled first. The candidacies for the new government suggested by the special commission were discussed during Natalya Kochanova’s report to the president of Belarus, BelTA has learned.

“Today we have examined decisions regarding some candidates. I think that these decisions will be passed by our president in the near future,” said Natalya Kochanova.

She noted that the composition of the government has already been renewed; thus, many ministers have been working there for less than a year, and there are new people among the deputy prime ministers. “Decisions have already been made. Therefore, we are talking about those who have already worked. And, perhaps, there will be some rotation,” said the chairwoman of the Council of the Republic.

“We have repeatedly reiterated while working on the concept of personnel policy that there should be rotation. There should absolutely be rotation. People should work their way up a career ladder in order to become vice-premier or prime minister, or minister. Of course, they should be well-versed in their field of expertise. They should have profound knowledge of the industry they will be working in. After all, they will perform regulatory functions. And a vice-premier will regulate several areas. Therefore, to be hand-picked, candidates should possess competence, experience, professionalism, and good communication skills, which is important,” said Natalya Kochanova.

She remarked that the above-mentioned commission has held several meetings. The commission includes senior officials, the head of the Belarus President Administration, the heads of the chambers of parliament. These issues were also discussed with the people who worked as Aleksandr Lukashenko's authorized representatives during the election campaign. “We discussed these matters with heads of parliamentary commissions. Heads of commissions of the Council of the Republic are very knowledgeable and competent in all fields. These are people who have worked in the government for a long time. And therefore they were asked to put forward their proposals,” noted the chairwoman of the Council of the Republic.

“We articulated these proposals, summarized them, and submitted them to Aleksandr Grigorievich,” added Natalya Kochanova.
