Kochanova: Projects at Horizon and Motovelo in Minsk are on schedule

MINSK, 16 August (BelTA) - The projects at Horizont and Motovelo are proceeding according to schedule, and even ahead of schedule, Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly Natalya Kochanova told the media after a meeting with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko on 16 August, BelTA has learned.

The president outlined three sets of issues. They were about the situation in Minsk since Natalya Kochanova is also the president’s authorized representative in the city of Minsk. The second set of questions was about the work of the new Council of the Republic. The third one was international contacts through the Council of the Republic.

"I reported on the progress in the implementation of instructions. First of all, the matter was about the enterprises that the president inspected. They are Motovelo, MAZ, Horizont," the speaker said. "We monitor the activities of these enterprises, the status of the projects that are being implemented at these enterprises. Everything is on schedule, and even ahead of schedule."

As planned, Motovelo will reach the full capacity in 2025. So will the resident companies of the technopark created there. "138 residents have been contracted, 83 enterprises are already operating in this territory," Natalya Kochanova said.

According to her, the grounds of the Horizont company will be developed by analogy with Motovelo. "The main assets will remain involved in the production of high-tech equipment (including laptops). The rest of the areas will be rented out for new industrial manufactures," the speaker of the Council of the Republic explained.

Describing the development of the Belarusian capital in general, Natalya Kochanova stressed that Minsk has fulfilled the social and economic indicators and even beat some of them. "But we cannot be complacent. We understand that we need to work and grow because it is a large center in terms of population, an industrial hub. Therefore, we must show good results here. The share of the city of Minsk in the country's economy is significant," the speaker stated.

As for the activities of the new Council of the Republic, the upper house continues to work on bills and conduct international activities. "We are actively working on the international agenda with our colleagues, MPs of the SCO and BRICS countries," Natalya Kochanova said.

As before, the Council of the Republic focuses on work with people, citizens' complaints and petitions. We hold phone Q&As with citizens and meetings with labor collectives (more than 470 of them have already been held in the past four months). The Council of the Republic of the new convocation has already received more than 2,000 complaints and petitions, held 108 phone Q&As. Members of the Council of the Republic hold monthly meetings with citizens. "We are actively working with people and do our best to help them," Natalya Kochanova emphasized.
