MINSK, 22 October (BelTA) – The regional development of the country largely depends on the effective work of local personnel, Chairperson of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova told the media following his report to the head of state in Minsk on 22 October, BelTA has learned.
One of the topics that she reported to the president concerned personnel. In this regard, journalists asked Natalya Kochanova what tasks the head of state had set for the Council of the Republic in terms of personnel policy.
Natalya Kochanova stressed that she gave the president a detailed account of the staffing situation in various areas: “How personnel are selected, how young specialists who come to work in the regions are retained, how managers in responsible positions, such as the chairpersons of city and district executive committees, and our fellow deputies perform,” she emphasized.
Natalya Kochanova noted that regional development, which the president pays great attention to, largely depends on the work of local personnel. “The laws are the same and the economic conditions are the same, yet the situation develops in different ways. The president asked in detail how personnel work locally, what issues members of the Council of the Republic see in personnel policy, and how effectively the appeals we receive are being handled. This is what defines the effective work of local personnel,” she said.
Speaking about regional development, the speaker emphasized that the well-being and further development of the entire country depend on how people live in each individual locality. “Aleksandr Grigoryevich [Lukashenko] has always treated the issues of regional development in our country with great care. This task was set and formulated by the Belarusian People’s Congress. Currently, when we are working on the 2026-2030 [socio-economic development] program, we clearly understand that balanced regional development and regional policy are the top priority,” she added.
