
MINSK, 19 February (BelTA) - Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova has held a meeting with First Deputy Speaker of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates Tariq Al Tayer, BelTA has learned.
Natalya Kochanova thanked the Arab partners for their support in considering the issue of granting the Parliament of Belarus observer status in the Asian Parliamentary Assembly. “Cooperation in such international organizations is very important for every country,” the speaker said.
“There are good, friendly relations between our countries thanks to the good relations built by the leaders of our countries. The United Arab Emirates is a country that is very close to us despite the distance. We are implementing joint investment projects, and our President Aleksandr Lukashenko always speaks very kindly about the people of your country and its leader. Our relations have reached an unprecedented level,” Natalya Kochanova emphasized.
The Belarusian parliamentary delegation led by Natalya Kochanova, Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, is paying an official visit to Azerbaijan. The key events of the official visit include the participation in the meeting of the Executive Council of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) and the 15th Plenary Session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly “The Role of Parliamentary Diplomacy in Strengthening Multilateral Cooperation in Asia”.
The APA was established in 2006 to coordinate the efforts of national parliaments in addressing pressing issues of the day, including by enhancing the parliamentary role in ensuring peace in Asia. The Assembly acts as one of the instruments of inter-parliamentary dialogue in the region, and its activities are aimed at developing a collective strategy to ensure security and stability in Asia.
