Kochanova: No plans to scrap social security programs in Belarus

MINSK, 6 July (BelTA) – The government will continue running social support programs, Chair of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova said at the ceremony to reopen the Minsk Pediatric Dentistry Center, BelTA has learned.

Despite the sanctions, the country is moving forward, the government is fulfilling all the tasks, Natalya Kochanova noted. “There is no doubt that we will maintain momentum and that all social support activities, all social security programs will remain in place,” the speaker said.

The chair of the Council of the Republic recalled that the yesterday's meeting with the president touched upon social security matters, among other things. “Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko once again gave a clear-cut instruction to the government to make sure that people who need support will certainly receive it. I can assure you that our government will not abandon its social security commitments,” Natalya Kochanova emphasized.

The speaker noted that the president is very attentive to the needs of the healthcare system. In particular, since 1 July healthcare workers will get a pay rise; the government is also working to resolve the housing issue for healthcare professionals.

Natalya Kochanova also noted that new healthcare and social facilities regularly open in Belarus, because public health is one of the most important areas of the country's social security policy. “Taking care of children, their health is a priority, so it is important that such an institution is reopening in Minsk today,” the chair of the Council of the Republic added.

The speaker noted that this center boasts the latest in equipment and technology. Thus, pediatric patients will be able to receive high-quality diagnostics and treatment services,” said Natalya Kochanova.

She thanked the municipal authorities for their efforts to improve the city's health infrastructure. This pertains to the renovation of healthcare facilities and the purchase of modern equipment and medicines. There are plans to build an infectious diseases hospital and complete the renovation of the children's infectious diseases hospital. “There are many plans, I am sure that they will be implemented, there is no doubt about that,” Natalya Kochanova stressed.

Speaking about the Minsk Pediatric Dentistry Center, the speaker noted that the renovation effort was completed within a short period of time. The renovation made the center more comfortable for employees and patients.

The renovation began in May 2021 and ended on 28 June 2022. The facility will provide all kinds of pediatric dentistry services, including diagnostics.
