Kochanova, Mezentsev discuss Union State agenda

MINSK, 31 December (BelTA) - Chairperson of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova met with State Secretary of the Union State Dmitry Mezentsev in Minsk on 30 December, BelTA learned.

“During the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of issues of interaction in the Union State, preparation for the events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War. MPs of Belarus and Russia attach special importance to it,” the state secretary said.

Dmitry Mezentsev talked about the results of the outgoing year. He noted that the new Union State budget is 15.2% larger over last year’s and that all obligations under programs, projects and activities of the Union State were fulfilled.

The state secretary noted that the decision of the heads of state to establish the Union State Award for Young Scientists is important for supporting the work to implement the strategy for a common scientific and technological space of the Union State. 

“Natalya Kochanova emphasized the special public importance of the Train of Memory project. It is implemented jointly by the Council of the Republic and the Council of the Federation with the assistance of the Standing Committee of the Union State,” the state secretary added. 

Dmitry Mezentsev thanked the members of the Council of the Republic for their participation in the events of the outgoing year, their involvement in the work of the Parliamentary Assembly, their substantive contribution to the conference dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Union State Treaty, which was held in Moscow on 16 December.

Dmitry Mezentsev also outlined the large-scale and meaningful tasks of the near future.
