MINSK, 22 July (BelTA) – Membership in public associations is the call of the heart, Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova said at a meeting of the grassroots organization of the Belaya Rus public association at the Council of the Republic, BelTA has learned.
According to her, the creation of the Belaya Rus grassroots organization at the Council of the Republic is an important event. “The role of public associations should not be underestimated. In fact, this is an association of people who strive to make their country a better place. You know how much attention is paid to public associations in our country. The Council of the Republic is now working on a bill on civil society that will give a clear-cut definition to public associations. According to the president, public associations are the pillars of the policy pursued in our country. And this policy prioritizes people and their needs. Everything that is done in Belarus is done for our people,” Natalya Kochanova said.
The speaker pointed to the important role of public associations. “You do not get money for this kind of work. This is the call of your heart. I am sure that all our colleagues who have decided to join the Belaya Rus public association today have made this decision consciously. “I joined this organization when it was still in its nascence. The charter and the objectives of this public association chime in with my own convictions. And I have never regretted my decision. We have held many events, and wherever I worked, I have always been a member of Belaya Rus,” she stressed.
Natalya Kochanova recalled that not so long ago, the grassroots organizations of the Belarusian Women's Union and the BRSM Youth Union were set up at the Council of the Republic. “I am sincerely happy about this and I hope that the work that we will do within the framework of the Belaya Rus public association will yield good results and will help fulfill the tasks facing our society. This is about maintaining peace and calm, and other decisions that need to be taken today for the well-being of our citizens, because it is not that difficult to create a public association, but it is important to make it works effectively. We should be proactive, ambitious and motivated,” the chairperson of the Council of the Republic added.
“I want to assure you that we will remain committed to our cause. This is support for the policy of the president, support for the peaceful, constructive policy of the Belarusian state. We will continue to do what we have always done. We have points of growth. And I think that Belaya Rus will be an even more prominent subject of civil society and socio-political life,” Chairman of Belaya Rus Oleg Romanov said. Addressing Natalya Kochanova, he noted: “ You are an example of a wise leader, a reliable comrade, and with your help we will do a lot of important things for our homeland.”
