
MINSK, 12 May (BelTA) - Belarus and Vietnam have friendly and very warm relations, Chairperson of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova said during a meeting with General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam, BelTA learned.
"Your visit to our country is of great political significance and is taking place at a time when the Belarusian people are celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory in the Great Patriotic War. We are sincerely happy to congratulate you once again on the significant date for the Vietnamese people - the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and national reunification. Please accept our sincere congratulations and best wishes to the Vietnamese people. I would like to note that the delegation of the National Assembly took part in these solemn events," Natalya Kochanova said.
"Our countries enjoy friendly, very warm relations President Aleksandr Lukashenko has repeatedly emphasized this,” the Speaker noted. “These relations go way back, to the Soviet times when the Vietnamese people fought for their independence. Our good relations are largely due to the policy pursued by the leadership of the two countries. Aleksandr Lukashenko has been to Vietnam three times on official visits. We have hosted the leaders of Vietnam," Natalya Kochanova said.
