GRODNO, 1 July (BelTA) - Belarus and Russia are not just friendly countries, we are kindred people, said Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova on 1 July, BelTA has learned.
Chairperson of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova and Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia Valentina Matviyenko took part in a meeting with the regional authorities of Belarus and Russia on 1 July.
“I am sincerely glad to welcome you in Belarus, in the wonderful city of Grodno. First of all, I would like to thank you for responding to our invitation and taking part in the 9th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia. Relations between Belarus and Russia have always been and remain friendly. We are not just friendly countries, we are kin people. We have been working closely for many years. Today we are intensifying partnerships of all kinds, and our cooperation has reached an absolutely new level,” Natalya Kochanova said.
According to the speaker, this is largely thanks to the work done by the presidents of our countries, our governments, our agencies, heads of regions and MPs. “An additional incentive in our cooperation was the signing of 28 programs at the Supreme State Council of the Union State,” she added.
The program of the forum's day two will include the plenary session “The role of interregional cooperation in deepening the Union State integration processes”. Attending the event will be heads of ministries and departments, government agencies, enterprises and organizations, representatives of Belarusian and Russian business.
