Kochanova attends session of Minsk City Council to discuss socio-economic issues

MINSK, 14 July (BelTA) – Chair of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly Natalya Kochanova took part in a session of the Minsk City Council on 13 July, BelTA has learned.

Natalya Kochanova urged to take all the necessary measures to maintain the economic security of the country and a decent standard of living for Belarusians.

“The time when we relied on someone above to solve our tasks is long gone. It is high time for everyone to learn to make decisions independently and to take responsibility. Without a doubt, the desired result will come only when we ensure iron discipline and order while fulfilling our targets,” the speaker noted.

On 7 July the chair of the Council of the Republic held a meeting with the municipal administration to discuss the most pressing problems facing the city. It was decided at the end of the session to hold a meeting with structural divisions of the Minsk City Council, heads of departments, enterprises, organizations.

“Today we are taking stock of the socio-economic development of the city in January-May. We are reviewing the results of our work over this period, we have identified a number of problems that need to be thoroughly studied and analyzed to further the socio-economic development of the capital city,” Minsk Mayor Vladimir Kukharev noted. “I want to emphasize that it is vitally important to fulfill the tasks set for enterprises and organizations of the city,” the mayor added.

According to him, the efforts to intensify contacts with Russian regions upon the instruction of the Belarusian president are already bearing fruit. “Literally every week we meet with senior officials of Russian regions. At the recent Forum of Regions, ambitious tasks were set regarding our joint work on exports, raw materials, import substitution. We have made great strides, and all heads of Russian regional governments say they are ready to cooperate with us,” Vladimir Kukharev stated.
