MINSK, 17 June (BelTA) – The defense ministers of Belarus and Azerbaijan have discussed the state and prospects of military cooperation, BelTA learned from the Defense Ministry.
Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin held talks with Azerbaijani Minister of Defense Zakir Hasanov. The ministers reviewed the current state of bilateral cooperation and outlined ways to deepen partnerships in areas of mutual interest. “We have no problems in relations and we see eye to eye with each other. We just need to take stock of the main areas of cooperation,” Viktor Khrenin said addressing his Azerbaijani counterpart.
The defense minister of Belarus emphasized that cooperation between Belarus and Azerbaijan is characterized by a high level of trust and openness. “It is based on fraternal ties between our peoples. A testimony to that is the friendly and trusting relationship between the presidents of the two states, Aleksandr Lukashenko and Ilham Aliyev. Once again, I would like to emphasize the high level of interaction in the defense sector. It bears underscoring that we are able and willing to deepen our interaction,” the Belarusian defense minister remarked.
In turn, his Azerbaijani counterpart noted that Azerbaijan highly values bilateral cooperation in the military sector and defense industry, and is also interested in deepening bilateral contacts.
After the talks, the defense ministers laid flowers at the Victory Monument in Minsk.
