MINSK, 22 June (BelTA) - More than 93,000 people visited the Khatyn memorial complex in the first quarter of 2025, Inga Malashkevich, the head of the tourism section at the Sport and Tourism Directorate of the Minsk Oblast Executive committee, said in a new episode of BelTA’s project “The Nation Speaks”.
Speaking about the tourism potential of Minsk Oblast, it is impossible not to mention museums. First of all, it is the Khatyn memorial complex and the Zaslavl historical and cultural museum-reserve. In 2024, the museums of the region drew 1.458 million visitors. In particular, more than 609,000 people visited Khatyn. In the first quarter of 2025 the museum was visited by 93,500 people. the Zaslavl historical and cultural museum-reserve attracted 114,900 visitors in 2024; and 28,500 - in the first quarter of 2025. Our museums are interesting and their expositions are very popular among Belarusian and foreign visitors alike. For example, in Zaslavl there is a very interesting Museum of Belarusian Malyavanka [traditional painted rugs]. We brought a film crew from Russia there. They were delighted with the local exposition. They said they had seen similar things in Italy,” she said.
Inbound tourism is gaining momentum in the country and Minsk Oblast, in particular. So is active tourism. “Boat and bicycle activities, rafting are very popular in our region. For example, 700-800 kayaks are rafted down the Isloch River in Volozhin District every day,” Inga Malashkevich said.
Today, improving infrastructure is one of the major areas of the development of tourism activities in Minsk Oblast, she noted.
