MINSK, 22 June (BelTA) - Foreign spies were among the 14 convicts pardoned recently by Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko, Chairman of the State Security Committee of Belarus (KGB) Ivan Tertel told the media, BelTA has learned.

“The head of state’s decision is a gesture of goodwill. Among these 14 persons transferred just recently at the request of the American side, there are a large number of people detained for espionage activities on our territory. These are citizens of Poland, Latvia and some other countries. It's a gesture of goodwill. We'll see how the other side responds. We do not let our guard down. We keep working. We ensure the security of our state, as the president demands from us,” he said.
