Kazakhstan mulls joint production of building materials with Belarus

MINSK, 31 May (BelTA) - Kazakhstan is interested in establishing joint companies with Belarus to produce building materials, Kazakhstan’s First Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar told the media, BelTA has learned.

“Kazakhstan attaches special importance to the development of relations with Belarus in the spirit of strategic partnership and mutually beneficial cooperation. Our countries maintain a high level of bilateral interaction across the whole spectrum of interstate ties, backed by regular meetings at different levels. Thanks to the political role of our heads of state, steadily developing bilateral relations are based on mutual respect, equality and consideration of each other's interests,” Roman Sklyar said.

In his words, the government of Kazakhstan is ready to continue consistent joint work, as Belarus is an important trade and economic partner for the country.

“Our mutual trade do not fully reflect the available potential. Unfavorable external conditions have been a serious factor in the decline of mutual trade in recent years, so we need to think about cooperation in the areas that are less susceptible to external factors. Our economies have the potential to increase mutual trade, including through mutual investment and industrial cooperation,” the first deputy prime minister of Kazakhstan said.

According to him, it is important to move forwards, continue to work on deepening the degree of localization, sharing experience in technological processes, joining efforts to expand the range of products.

“The competitive environment of our products is an important factor for us. We also see significant potential in the production of building materials, the market for which is not fully covered by our Kazakhstani enterprises. Every year we build about 17 million square meters of housing, which causes additional demand for building materials. In particular, we are interested in establishing new joint ventures for the production of the most popular materials. These include ceramic products, floor and wall coverings, wallpaper, roofing materials, dry mixes, bricks, and other building materials,” Roman Sklyar said.
