Karayev informs WHO representatives about accommodation conditions for refugees in logistics center

GRODNO, 22 November (BelTA) - President's Aide - Inspector for Grodno Oblast Yuri Karayev talked to the WHO representatives, who visited the border on 21 November, and told them about the accommodation conditions for refugees in the temporary accommodation center in the transport and logistics center, BelTA has learned.

"On the first day we accommodated a thousand people, set up tents for food distribution. The Red Cross distributes aid donated by citizens and organizations. A military unit cooks lunch at six field kitchens. Refugees have hot tea, boiled eggs and dry food packages for breakfast,” Yuri Karayev said. "After a while the second thousand people relocated here from the border. We were struggling to quickly accommodate and feed so many hungry people."

“But thanks to the coordinated work of all services, we did. We cleared more space in the transport and logistics center to accommodate refugees. We provided them with a roof over their heads and food. We did even more. We sent here shops on wheels, brought medicines. University volunteers drive those who need medical care to a hospital," Yuri Karayev added.

Lyudmila Keda, the head of the healthcare department of the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee, provided more details about the organization of medical care for refugees in the transport and logistics center. According to her, doctors provide round-the-clock assistance to those in need, about 100 refugees needed assistance in the hospital.
