MINSK, 30 July (BelTA) – The guilt of German citizen Rico Krieger, who was sentenced to capital punishment in Belarus, has been fully established, Deputy Head of the KGB Investigative Department Aleksandr Grib who investigated this case told journalists following a meeting with the president of Belarus, BelTA has learned.
“This criminal case was being handled by the Investigative Department of Belarus' KGB. The president carefully listened to all those invited to this meeting. Taking into account the evidence in this criminal case, I can say that Rico Krieger's guilt in committing the crimes he was charged with had been fully established. During the meeting, the president was told about all the circumstances of this criminal case,” Aleksandr Grib said.
Given the gravity of the crimes committed, the Minsk Oblast Court convicted Rico Krieger and handed down a death sentence. “There was no doubt about his guilt. After Rico Krieger asked the president for an official pardon, it is now up to the president to make a decision on it in line with legislation,” the investigator added.
