International observer: Belarusians care about their country’s future

BREST, 25 February (BelTA) - It is clear that Belarusians care about the future of their country, international observer from the CIS Khalmurat Rashidov told the media in Brest, BelTA has learned.

Khalmurat Rashidov stressed that Belarus has created all the necessary conditions for the high-quality work of international observers. "We saw almost all stages of the electoral process. According to our observations, ahead of the main voting day, all stages were carried out at the proper level, without any serious violations," the observer said. In addition to Brest, his group visited the town of Pinsk, Pinsk District, Ivanovo District and other districts. Particular attention was paid to the early voting. "We didn't focus on urban areas. We visited many polling stations in rural communities. The atmosphere is very festive. People go to the polls earnestly. It is clear that they care about the fate of their country," Khalmurat Rashidov added.

International observers from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia are also working in the southwestern region. “It is important for us to see how democratic processes are going on during the election campaign in the Republic of Belarus. We have been working here for the third day already. We have visited both cities and district centers. Today we are visiting the polling stations in Brest. This is the third polling station on our tour. We were here when the polling station was opening, saw the complete readiness of the commissions,” international observer from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia Olga Germanova said.

She also emphasized the special importance of the current election campaign. “I represent the commission on culture. We will have a change of representatives from Belarus. It is highly important for new professionals to come,” the observer said. “The source of power is the people. It delegates powers to its representatives. It is very important for them to represent the interests of the people.” Olga Germanova added that the elections were held in a calm atmosphere. “I think the Belarusians understand what they are voting for. They vote for a stable tomorrow, for the development of their state,” the international observer said.
