MINSK, 17 December (BelTA) – The Industry Ministry is ready for systemic and persistent work to implement decisions of the Belarusian People’s Congress, BelTA learned from Industry Minister, delegate of the Belarusian People’s Congress Andrei Kuznetsov.
Andrei Kuznetsov said: “The decisions made by the Belarusian People’s Congress are legally binding and guide the country’s development for years to come. They determine the main vectors of political, economic, and social policies. In this sense the event is taking place at a key moment: on the threshold of a new five-year period when priorities and specific directions of the country’s social and economic development for the next few years will be determined.”
Summing up the industry’s performance, he noted that in the current five-year period industrial development is being implemented through investment, innovation, and import substitution as well as by improving the quality and the competitive ability of products. In particular, a new investment cycle for industrial development has been launched: the implementation of 65 big investment projects will kick off a new stage of industrial development in the coming five-year period. Manufacturing sector enterprises are steadily increasing the output of import-substituting products: the output has almost doubled in comparison with the previous five-year period.
Priorities for further development have been set in all areas of the manufacturing sector: microelectronics, optical-mechanical equipment for manufacturing microelectronic components, electric transport as well as equipment powered by alternative energy sources, including fuel cells and hydrogen, robotic complexes for the automation of process equipment, mining equipment and vehicles, and many other things, the official clarified.
“The Industry Ministry will continue a steady course towards further development, towards increasing production efficiency, reducing costs and, as a result, improving product quality. I can say with confidence that Industry Ministry enterprises consistently and systematically strengthen the country’s technological sovereignty today,” the industry minister emphasized.
In his words, the Belarusian People’s Congress is particularly important for representatives of enterprises accountable to the Industry Ministry. “Investment activity, the launch and completion of major modernization projects, the formation of the export policy, the creation of jobs, and the improvement of the competitiveness of our enterprises depend on the goals we set and the decisions we make together. The active participation of the management and workers of factories and plants as delegates ensures that the voice of manufacturers is heard when important decisions are getting made. The practical experience and professional responsibility of delegates from our manufacturing sector help develop balanced and feasible solutions,” noted Andrei Kuznetsov.
He is confident that it is on this platform that the most reliable foundation is being laid, on which the well-being of every Belarusian family, the success of enterprises, and the stability of society as a whole will be built.
“The Industry Ministry fully shares the tasks set before the country and is ready to do systematic and consistent work in order to implement decisions of the Belarusian People’s Congress. We will step up coordination with industry enterprises and R&D centers in order to accelerate the modernization of manufacturing facilities, introduce digital technologies, improve energy efficiency and environmental friendliness of manufacturing, and develop human capital in manufacturing sector,” the industry minister emphasized.
He also expressed confidence that consolidated efforts of the authorities, manufacturers, and worker collectives will enable the successful completion of the set tasks and ensure the sustainable development of the economy and rising living standards of citizens.
