“I kept my cool: Factory worker recalls conversation with Lukashenko

VOLOZHIN, 19 October (BelTA) – In an interview with the STV TV channel Valentina Masalova, a sorter of materials, products and semi-finished products at Vitebsk Fur Factory, recalled the  conversation she had with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko during his visit to the enterprise, BelTA reports.

This story happened six years ago. In November 2018, Aleksandr Lukashenko came to Vitebsk Fur Factory. As usual, he asked in detail about the company's performance and development prospects. He spoke not only with the management of the enterprise. At some point, Aleksandr Lukashenko decided to talk to an ordinary worker - Valentina Masalova.

This came as a surprise to the woman. But she did not lose her cool and told in detail what kind of work she did. “It was a candid conversation. We knew that the president would come to the enterprise. But no one expected that he would come up to me and ask questions,” recalled Valentina Masalova.

Now her grandchildren are proud of her for speaking with the president. “He talked to me as if I were an equal. And he asked questions, it felt so genuine,” the woman noted.

Valentina Masalova remarked that she likes the job. And with the presidential support, the enterprise got a new lease on life. “Almost six years have passed, and our products have become even better. In addition to sheepskin, we branched out into leather production. During the off-season we produce leather for our holding,” she explained.
