MINSK, 19 January (BelTA) - Dozens of tonnes of humanitarian cargo have been collected as part of the charity campaign for Donbass children run by the Belaya Rus national public association, BelTA learned from the public association.

The association recalled that the campaign “Belaya Rus for the children of Donbass” was launched at the beginning of December last year. Already 12 tonnes of humanitarian aid from Minsk and several districts of Minsk Oblast have accumulated in warehouses in the capital city. Humanitarian aid from other regions will arrive in the coming days.

Next week food, sweets, stationery, medicines, medical supplies and much more will be sent to children living in Donbass. Volunteers - students of Military Academy and Belarusian State Economic University – are sorting the humanitarian cargo.

The public association recalled that the campaign is carried out in close cooperation with the Rossotrudnichestvo office in Belarus and the Russian Humanitarian Mission. They are responsible for the delivery of the cargo and its distribution on the ground. Belaya Rus stressed that the readiness to lend a helping hand to a friend in need is a characteristic feature of the peoples of Russia and Belarus, the most important component of their civilizational code, while preservation of historical traditions and moral compass are the foundations of social harmony in both countries.

The Belaya Rus national public association remarked that the charity campaign for the children of Donbass is viewed as an important project of the Union State to help the affected regions.
