MINSK, 17 June (BelTA) – The authorities in Belarus treat the coronavirus pandemic as a high priority issue, Head Physician of Minsk City Hospital No. 5 Mikhail Nazarchuk told BelTA.
From the very onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Belarus' government took appropriate measures to curb the spread of the infection, Mikhail Nazarchuk emphasized. These measures have proved to be justified and effective.
At present, the hospital continues treating COVID-19 patients. “Our entire team works hard and in sync. We have opened a new modern 320-bed building where we have everything in place to provide top-notch comfort and clinical care to patients,” the doctor said. At the same time, he drew attention to the fact that, in addition to COVID-19 patients, there are still many people with severe chronic diseases.
“The government spends a lot of money on healthcare, and this is obvious. Now there is a two months' supply of expensive medicines, a sufficient amount of personal protective equipment, there is enough of everything,” Mikhail Nazarchuk added.
He emphasized that despite the enormous external pressure, attempts to interfere in domestic affairs of Belarus and destabilize the situation, the government is doing everything it can to maintain stability, order and accessibility of health services for the public.
