MINSK, 18 February (BelTA) - Gürhan Albayrak, Honorary Consul of Belarus in Eskisehir and Chairman of the Justice and Development Party of Eskisehir Province, expressed his intention to expand cooperation between the two countries in several key areas during a meeting with Minsk Mayor Vladimir Kukharev, BelTA has learned.
“Since 2019 we have been cooperating with Belarus in the area of railroads, including metro and tram lines, which is our main sector. We also want to develop cooperation in other areas, such as agriculture. It is important to note that the cultural heritage of both countries is very rich and ancient, and we are interested in developing cultural ties,” Gürhan Albayrak said.
He also emphasized the plans for active cooperation in education, noting the importance of ancient universities both in Türkiye and Belarus. “We want to develop these ties and create new opportunities for students and teachers,” Gürhan Albayrak added.
The honorary consul noted the importance of maintaining friendly relations between the countries at all levels, including politics, economy, culture and healthcare. “Our common goal is not only to strengthen ties between states, but also to develop relations between cities and nations,” he said.
Gürhan Albayrak expressed his gratitude to the Minsk mayor and the entire Belarusian people for the warm welcome. In his words, in the future Türkiye plans to actively work on deepening cooperation and holding frequent meetings with Belarusian partners. “We will come often and do many good things. We are obliged to maintain friendship between the countries at all levels,” he concluded.
