MINSK, 11 January (BelTA) - The entire Western civilization is a rat cornered, and it is highly dangerous, historian Yevgeny Spitsyn said in the latest episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
Yevgeny Spitsyn considers the opinion that the USA has recently been losing its hegemonic status to be mistaken. He explained that the situation the United States and Western Europe find themselves in resembles a trap, but one should not harbor illusions about their weakness.
“We know very well that a rat, when cornered, is the most dangerous and the most aggressive. This applies not only to the Americans, it applies to the entire Western civilization as a whole,” said the historian. “A temporary discord, a split has occurred within this Western civilization, because the inter-imperialist contradictions have not gone anywhere. Why did Trump oppose the globalists? And why was he supported by the deep state? After all, it’s clear that without the support of the deep state, Trump would not have been allowed within a cannon shot of the election campaign. They really would have knocked him off. Trump is a protégé of those very forces within the imperialist camp that, for now, are playing on the side of nation-states, primarily the USA itself, who are currently dissatisfied with this globalist project. It scares them in some way. I won’t speculate on what exactly. So, this discord has occurred. But their belief that they are, remain, and will be hegemons has not gone away.”
