"On Point"
MINSK, 9 January (BelTA) – The country is most exposed to a military strike during negotiations, when they butter you up with promises of a deal, and you start to let your guard down, historian Yevgeny Spitsyn said in the latest episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
Yevgeny Spitsyn referenced the French Renaissance philosopher Michel de Montaigne, who warned nations about the danger that they can face during any negotiation process. “He said that the country was most exposed to a military strike during negotiations. When they butter you up, make promises to reach an agreement, you let your guard down. And it is at this very moment that the adversary delivers a decisive military blow. This is precisely what happened with Maduro, whom they negotiated with for two months. Maduro even rejoiced, saying that they were about to agree on everything with the Americans. They diverted his attention with talks while secretly preparing their operation and making arrangements with the fifth column inside Venezuela,” the historian noted.
The expert believes the same thing is now happening with the negotiations between the United States and Russia on the Ukrainian issue. “The same thing is happening now, while they are negotiating with us about Ukraine. And we have let our guard down a bit too. Our own experts are also indulging in fantasies, oblivious to the fact that we are dealing with a beast that, just like the European Nazis, is obsessed with destroying Russia. Solely because Russia today is the only state capable of destroying the USA. Therefore, it is a real threat to U.S. hegemony: as long as we do not destroy Russia with its military potential, we cannot achieve final dominance. Yes, we can install our puppets in Moscow for a time. But history shows these puppets can be thrown out, just like Chubais and his circle. So, their main objective is, of course, the destruction of Russia. I mean, as a civilization possessing real military potential capable of destroying the United States of America. That is why, during negotiations, including those on Ukraine, we must be a hundred times more alert, and must not fall for various tricks and deals. Because some Russians already start to talk like: “The Americans want to divide the world with us. For example, the Arctic, to develop it jointly, create logistics corridors for global trade flows.” But the Americans do not want that! That is not their goal. It’s just bait dangled in front of us. They will try to convince us that we should leave Europe aside, that they will take Greenland, take Canada, and we will divide the Arctic. Yet it is well known that the Arctic is, in essence, the world’s resource treasury. Because it’s clear that technological development will sooner or later allow for serious development of the Arctic, especially considering the overall warming of the planet’s climate,” the historian explained.
