MINSK, 18 September (BelTA) – A patriotic forum dedicated to the Day of People’s Unity “If We Are United” was held at Minsk Arena on 17 September. The forum will be remembered for its concert and a spectacular high-tech show, BelTA has learned.
Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko delivered a speech at the forum. The head of state recalled the history behind the Day of People’s Unity, and also gave his take on the international military and political situation and its impact on Belarus’ security.
Artists of all ages and from all corners of Belarus performed at Minsk Arena. Among them were not only professional and established performers, but also amateur groups.
The very first entry was one of the most dazzling. It was called "Slavic Pattern" and it was deeply symbolic. The entry weaved together the past, present and future of our country and people.
Aleksandr Lukashenko’s son Nikolai played the piano. His performance came as a surprise to the Minsk Arena audience. The music was performed on two BELARUS pianos. Nikolai Lukashenko played one of them, and his teacher Yelena Ostashkina-Myslivchik the other.
Their playing was accompanied by a symbolic video about Belarus’ history and the journey towards the unity of fraternal peoples.
Maksim Budnitsky, a student of Vitebsk State Medical University, had attended such concerts before. The young man and his friends were most impressed by a surprise entry for the president of Belarus - "Ballad of the Dictator" - that was presented on stage by President's Press Secretary Natalya Eismont. She said that this piece was born completely spontaneously, by chance and even against all odds.
"It ridiculed the dismissive attitude towards Belarus and the Belarusian people, but at the same time showed their power and kindness," said Maksim Budnitsky.
"I was most impressed by children's performances. I could see that they put their soul and heart into it and thoroughly prepared. They sang and danced very well. I especially liked how they sang along to the song Black Beemer. And in general, the concept of the concert was very well thought out," Vadim Gordevich shared his opinion.
Yelena Galanovich said that she was truly delighted by the concert: "I felt this spirit of unity, solidarity, pride for our independent country, for Belarusians. The idea and implementation were at the highest level."
