‘He came with son Kolya’. This woman helped Lukashenko choose a horse during his visit to Polesie

MINSK, 11 October (BelTA) - Yelena Boldyreva, a leading animal technician of the Polesie State Radiation and Ecological Reserve, told the STV TV channel about her meeting with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko during his visit to the reserved area in 2017, BelTA has learned.

Three years ago Aleksandr Lukashenko paid a visit to the Polesie Radiation and Ecological Reserve, the region that bore the brunt of contamination following the Chernobyl accident. During his working trip the president was interested in the development of the Chernobyl-affected lands.

Yelena Boldyreva, a leading animal technician, was among those who worked at the reserve that day. It was a complete surprise for the woman to see Aleksandr Lukashenko approaching her to say hello.

“He shook my hand. He has always been used to such a friendly way of greeting people,” Yelena Boldyreva said.

The woman admitted that she was overwhelmed with emotions during the short conversation with the head of state. She worried that the president might asks something she would not know what to answer. Her worries, however, were all in vain. Aleksandr Lukashenko was interested in mainly bread-and-butter issues.

“Where does forage come from? What fodder do we use? How much fodder do we need? Where do we sell? Why don't we sell abroad? Those were the questions from the leader of the country. He is an intelligent, competent specialist. What emotions did I have then? The best and most sincere ones,” the leading animal technician recalled.

This was not the first time that Yelena Boldyreva had met the head of state. “I also met the president in 2017. He really liked the horses and decided to buy one. He was with his son Kolya then. He asked his son whether he wanted to buy a horse. His son said yes. He liked them very much. And we chose one for him,” Yelena Boldyreva added.
