MINSK, 10 October (BelTA) - Artificial intelligence is becoming a human assistant in every area of life, Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) Vladimir Gusakov said at the opening of the 3rd IT Academy Forum “Artificial Intelligence in Belarus” and a large-scale exhibition of advanced domestic developments in artificial intelligence and robotics, BelTA has learned.
“The exhibition and the forum are an annual confirmation of Belarus’ further development and promotion in artificial intelligence. All the developments showcased at the exhibition are the potential of our country in AI. It would be great to have the forum and the exhibition as annual events in the future, with their scope constantly expanding. Artificial intelligence is the most rapidly developing trend in the world along with IT technologies and biotechnologies. Nowadays it is impossible to imagine any area of human activity without artificial intelligence, including the scientific sector. AI is becoming an assistant in all areas, enhancing people's capabilities in the search for the latest developments, new forms of enterprises and production. We should not lag behind the world trends and tendencies. Belarus should be among the leaders in artificial intelligence in the region and beyond,” Vladimir Gusakov said.
The winners of the AI Leaders in Belarus contest were named in three nominations: Company - AI Leader of Belarus, Project - AI Leader of Belarus, Product - AI Leader of Belarus. Among them are the State Research and Production Association “Optics, Optoelectronics and Laser Technology”, the National Research Center for Bioresources of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the United Institute of Informatics Problems of the National Academy of Sciences, Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics, the Military Academy and others.
The forum marked the Day of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. It featured scientific organizations engaged in research in the application of artificial intelligence methods, representatives of technoparks, residents of the High Technology Park, Belarusian enterprises, private companies, educational institutions, the Academy of the Internal Affairs Ministry, the Military Academy, as well as school students from all over the country. Foreign representatives also took part in the forum.
The program of the forum included a large-scale exhibition of advanced domestic developments in artificial intelligence and robotics, innovations of Belarusian scientists.
The business program of the event featured a plenary session, round tables on various thematic sections, including theoretical and practical developments in artificial intelligence in Belarus and abroad, training of qualified personnel in the development and implementation of AI technologies, prospects of AI development in Belarus.
According to the organizers, the purpose of the IT Academy Forum “Artificial Intelligence in Belarus” is to demonstrate achievements in artificial intelligence and robotics, to develop and coordinate cooperation between scientists and specialists engaged in research in AI application in the interests of finding effective solutions and practical recommendations for their application in various areas.
The 3rd IT Academy Forum “Artificial Intelligence in Belarus” was organized by the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the NASB United Institute of Informatics Problems.
