MINSK, 20 December (BelTA) – Belarusian singer Gunesh has made it to the final of the first edition of the international song contest Turkvision. The music forum is taking place in the Turkish city of Eskisehir, BelTA learnt from Olga Tunik, spokesperson for the singer.
Taking part in the semi-final were 24 contestants, but only 12 of them made it to the final. The 12 qualifiers for the final are representatives of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Tatarstan, Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine, Altai, Northern Cyprus, Kosovo and Uzbekistan.
Gunesh will perform her own song Son Hatэralar (Last Memories) in the Turkish language. She will come on stage the second.
The winner of the Grand Prix and runners-up will be determined by the jury that is composed by representatives of all 24 countries and regions taking part in the contest.
Experts have already dubbed Turkvision an alternative to the Eurovision Song Contest. However, this music show will be different. The contest is held in the cultural capital of the Turkic world, not the country of the winning artist. All the entries should be performed in the official language of the host country.
