MINSK, 23 February (BelTA) – Russia and Belarus are ready to repel any threat, regardless of its nature and scale, reads the message of congratulations of Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Belarus Boris Gryzlov, BelTA learned from the Russian diplomatic mission.

Boris Gryzlov emphasized that 23 February is a common, unifying holiday for Russia and Belarus. “We, diplomats and civil servants, do our work knowing that the lives and well-being of citizens of the Union State are in the reliable hands of the men and women serving in the Armed Forces of Russia and Belarus, because they safeguard our security every minute,” he emphasized.

According to the diplomat, the two countries have a long history of close cooperation in the defense sector. This includes dozens of joint exercises and constant exchange of information between the defense ministries.

“The joint task force is ready to carry out combat missions; we have a unified air defense system. Patrolling of the western border of the Union State is carried out jointly. The latest models of Russian weapons, including tactical nuclear weapons, are deployed on the territory of Belarus. Our countries are ready to push back any threat, regardless of its nature and scale,” noted Boris Gryzlov.

“History has shown that our enemies will never be able to drive a wedge between us. We always stand shoulder to shoulder. We carry on the spirit of the victors, our parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. We have the honor to preserve and pass on to next generations the memory of our common military feats and glorious chronicles of great victories, which would be enough for all the armies of the world combined,” the message reads.
