MINSK, 7 June (BelTA) – Performance of regional mass media has increased considerably. Director, Editor-in-Chief of the publishing house Belarus Segodnya Dmitry Zhuk made the statement on the air of the TV channel Belarus One, BelTA has learned.
Dmitry Zhuk said: “Reporters reflect the reality that exists. This is why it is important to reflect the actual reality instead of a pseudo perception about what is going on that is enforced from the outside. Such forums [like Belarus’ Mass Media Community Forum] are very important.”
In his words, performance of regional mass media has improved considerably. “Trust in local mass media, regional newspapers is at 71%. It is the highest level of trust. They have already risen to national standards in understanding affairs inside the country and to world standards in understanding foreign policy matters,” the director, editor-in-chief of the publishing house Belarus Segodnya noted.
Dmitry Zhuk stressed that nowadays reporters of regional mass media represent a different generation. “I am greatly inspired by it because these people think like patriots. It is the most important result of the transformations that have been going on in the mass media community for the last four to five years,” he stated. “You have to agree that we already have something to learn from district-level mass media. Moreover, I was looking at many reporters, who work for them, with envy. I’d like to see them among my employees.”
