GRODNO, 24 December (BelTA) – The Belarusian customs service is ready to clear more trucks provided the Lithuanian side makes sure the truck traffic flows smoothly across the border, representatives of the Grodno branch of the Belarusian customs service told BelTA.
Despite the traditional end-of-the-year increase in truck traffic the Grodno Regional Customs is ready to clear a considerably larger number of outgoing and incoming vehicles. However, the Lithuanian side does not smoothly clear trucks intent on entering Belarus. In the last 72 hours the Lithuanian side cleared 800 fewer trucks than the number the Belarusian side and the Lithuanian side had agreed on in order to keep the border operating well.
There are truck traffic jams in front of Lithuanian border checkpoints as a result. Truckers intent on crossing the Belarusian-Lithuanian border are advised to bear it in mind.
