MOSCOW, 3 January (BelTA) - The Green Eurasia international climate competition will be held for the second time this year. It will bring together not only participants from the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member states, but also countries outside the EAEU, BelTA learned from the press service of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).

The purpose of the competition is to identify the most effective practices in climate mitigation, adaptation and sustainable development. Applications are accepted on the official website greeneurasia.asi.ru from 1 February to 31 March. Commercial organizations, non-profit organizations, government agencies, public associations and individuals from the EAEU member states and third countries will be able to participate. The competition will be held in a number of nominations, including clean energy and energy efficiency, clean industry, green financing, low-carbon transport and others.

The organizers of the competition are the Eurasian Economic Commission, the Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI) and a consortium of development institutions of the Eurasian space. “In 2023 the winning projects came from the countries of our Eurasian ‘five’, while the second edition of the competition will bring together a broader range of participants and will cut across a variety of thematic areas,” noted Andrey Slepnev, Member of the Board - Minister in charge of Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission.

The Green Eurasia competition will become a large-scale platform to share expertise and knowledge in strengthening climate resilience. The best solutions will be recommended for emulation. This will be an opportunity for change leaders around the world to present their case and gain recognition at the international level,” added ASI Director General Svetlana Chupsheva.

The applications will be processed by 30 April. The results will be announced and winners will be awarded at the Eurasian Economic Forum in May.
