MINSK, 10 December (BelTA) – Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod Oblast will continue to build cooperation with Belarus, Nizhny Novgorod Oblast Governor Gleb Nikitin told reporters following a meeting with Chairperson of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova, BelTA has learned.
“Our delegation has had a very busy day. The 19th meeting of the Business Cooperation Council of Belarus and Nizhny Novgorod Oblast covered all sectors for which subgroups were set up. We also agreed on additional areas within larger sectors. Naturally, this includes cooperation in high-tech industries and agriculture. We will plant the famous Belarusian potatoes in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast. Cooperation in the humanitarian sector provides for exchange of student delegations, the work of inter-university commissions and committees. And, of course, we also discussed preparations for the Forum of Regions to be held in Nizhny Novgorod,” Gleb Nikitin noted.
According to him, he was quite happy with the results of economic cooperation. “As far as economic cooperation is concerned, Belarus is second only to China and is ahead of India. But in addition to the economy, we have humanitarian contacts, historical ties, and, of course, we care a lot about Belarusians. We have many natives of Belarus in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast. Therefore, of course, our cooperation will remain a priority at the highest level,” the governor emphasized.
“We have discussed many topics, including preparations for the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. These discussions should result in projects, including educational ones,” added Gleb Nikitin.
