Government discusses ways to provide Belarusians with housing

MINSK, 3 April (BelTA) – Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko has hosted a government conference to discuss ways to improve approaches to providing citizens with housing, BelTA has learned.

Roman Golovchenko said: “We continue working on an important task: changing approaches to housing construction in the republic. During the previous conference we singled out a number of matters that require a closer look. We decided to set up small working groups in charge of more closely studying the following matters. First, they have to identify the problems that slow down the development of mortgage lending and respectively work out proposals to solve these problems. Second, they have to analyze the advisability of increasing the size of state support granted to citizens for housing construction in communities populated by at most 80,000 people. The third task that two teams worked on at once is to provide various categories of citizens with rental housing or welfare housing.”

In his words, certain proposals were worked out. “The end goal is to organize a session of the Council of Ministers’ Presidium and discuss the developed solutions to new approaches to housing construction in Belarus,” the prime minister noted.
