BYKHOV DISTRICT, 9 November (BelTA) – The national reforestation campaign “Bringing forests back to life” continues in Belarus. On 9 November Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko and a delegation of the Council of Ministers will help foresters of Bykhov District plant a new forest, BelTA has learned.
Bykhov District was the most affected district of Mogilev Oblast by the summer storm. In total, the strong winds damaged more than 7,600 hectares of forests in the region. Of these, sanitary felling amounted to more than 3,100 hectares. In total, the natural disaster damaged 5,100 hectares of forests in Bykhov District, where more than 2,000 hectares had to be cleared.
The Council of Ministers delegation headed by Roman Golovchenko will plant a new forest on an area of 2.2 hectares. A total of 12,200 birch and pine seedlings will be planted.
