PM: Belarus is introducing e-government technologies

ALMATY, 2 February (BelTA) – Belarus is consistently introducing e-government technologies, Belarus’ Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said at the Digital Almaty 2024 forum, BelTA has learned.

“The EAEU countries are aware of the emerging opportunities and accompanying challenges, and are making efforts to be ahead of the curve in the global competition for digital leadership. I believe that this is a broadly shared view that the main goals of the state in digital transformation are the development of e-services, industry digitalization, ensuring digital sovereignty of countries. Belarus views these as important contributors to social and economic development,” said Roman Golovchenko.

According to him, the country is consistently introducing e-government technologies. “The unified portal of electronic services offers about 500 government services and administrative procedures to individuals and businesses. In 2023 use of the unified portal grew more than 1.5 times, reaching 120 million electronic transactions. The unified application processing system has been in operation since the beginning of 2023. It has already processed about 0.5 million requests from individuals and legal entities from almost 140,000 residents of the country. To reduce the digital gap between those living in the city and the countryside, the president of Belarus set the task to provide access to broadband and cellular communication technologies to the entire population, including in sparsely populated rural areas,” the prime minister noted.
