MINSK, 7 May (BelTA) – Belarusians will never kneel down in the face of any threat. Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko made the statement during a solemn assembly held in the Palace of the Republic ahead of the 76th anniversary of the Great Victory, BelTA has learned.
Roman Golovchenko said: “Today on the eve of the sacred holiday – Victory Day – we thank Great Patriotic War veterans. We bow low to them. We thank them for a lesson of courage, patriotism, and love of freedom. For an example of love for one's country. We are indebted to you, to those who fell on battlefields, to those who returned home to revive the country from the ashes but did not live long enough to see this day.”
The debt can be repaid by defending historical truth, by protecting the glory and majesty of the feat of the generation of victors, by preserving the peace and independence that the veterans paid for with their lives. “We, Belarusians, are a peaceful nation! This is how our anthem begins. But we are children and grandchildren of the winners, who stopped the spread of the brown plague and broke the spine of the aggressor. This is why we will never kneel down before any threat,” the prime minister noted.
Roman Golovchenko wished a Happy Victory Day to everyone. “I wish you happiness, good health, and new accomplishment in your work for the benefit of our motherland – the Republic of Belarus,” he concluded.
